Lyptus Wood Last Updated:[7/24/2006 5:47:12 PM]
LyptusŪ represents a new concept in forest management. A premium-grade hardwood, LyptusŪ is grown in South America on highly productive environmentally friendly plantations, interspersed with reintroduced indigenous trees to preserve native ecosystems. Wood is produced using proprietary technology in a sustainable and environmentally responsible manner. Thus, LyptusŪ customers can feel good about using this premium-quality hardwood, and also be assured of continuous supplies throughout the foreseeable future. A natural hybrid of Eucalyptus grandis and Eucalyptus urophylla, Lyptus thrives in the warm climate of Brazil, permitting harvesting in just 14 to 16 years as opposed to 50 to 70 years in colder regions.
The Lyptus plantations have played an important role in reforesting the devastated native rainforests of Brazil.
Not only are Lyptus plantations utilizing land that had become useless by years of intensive farming and logging, but for every two hectares of Lyptus plantation planted, one hectare of new native forest is planted, protected and maintained.
The fact that native flora and fauna are thriving within the Lyptus plantations and the surrounding native reforestation, demonstrates that these forestlands are providing optimum conditions for preserving and increasing biodiversity.
